PDC 2008

I’m sitting in the PDX airport just about to head down to Los Angeles, California for a conference and enjoying the free wi-fi.

I’m not really looking forward to going to LA.  I’ve only been there once many years ago on business for a few days; fly in and fly out.  I’ve heard the downtown area is a ghost town and the city is setup for car travel above all else.

The PDC, Professional Developers Conference, only happens once every few years.  The last one occured in 2005.  I wasn’t sure I was even going to get to go this year since changing jobs but my new employer really values my development experience as much as my database experience and even though we are primarily a Business Intellegence firm, I mostly do customized software development.

It’s going to be four days of being a nerd with many other nerds.  Microsoft is hosting the show.  It should be a good time.  On Tuesday night there is a party at Universal Studios for us.  They’ve rented out the place and there is to be all sorts of rides and Halloween goodness.  Should be fun.
